Agartala, Apr 20 (UNI) Acting on a tip-off, Railway Police arrested three Bangladeshi nationals, including a young woman, from Agartala Railway Station, as they were on their way to Kolkata.
The trio reportedly entered India illegally.
The operation was conducted on Saturday night jointly by the Agartala Government Railway Police Station (GRPS), Agartala Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and the Intelligence Department.
They were identified as Kamrun Nesa (23) – resident of Dhaka, Bangladesh, who is a Bangladeshi tout, Md. Ismail Hossain (22) – resident of Chittagong, and Mohammad Nur Hossain (25) – resident of Chittagong, Bangladesh.
Railway police said Kamrun Nesa intended to travel to Bengaluru via Kolkata, while the two youths were enroute to Chennai, also via Kolkata.
The three are being interrogated in phases at the Agartala GRP police station. Officials suspect the involvement of a larger network and hinted at the possibility of more arrests as the investigation progresses.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, villagers of Nandalal Das Para, bordering Ishanpur under Mohanpur sub-division of West Tripura, have detained two Bangladeshi thieves, who were handed over to the BSF after being thrashed black and blue on Sunday.
Later, BSF released them to the Border Guard Bangladesh
