Bihar govt to encourage Bhojpuri films with dignified language, good messages: Minister Motilal

Patna, May 24 (UNI) Bihar Art, Culture and Youth Minister Motilal Prasad said that Bhojpuri which is widely spoken in Bihar should be associated with excellence, not obscenity. He said the government will give priority to films with dignified language, good messaging and based on social concerns.
Prasad told news persons here on Saturday that the state government was extending full support to quality films made in regional languages, especially Bhojpuri.
He said, if 75 percent of a film is shot in Bihar, it will get a subsidy of up to Rs 4 crore.
Describing Bhojpuri as a prominent local dialect which is widely spoken in Bihar, he said it should be associated with excellence, not obscenity. He said films with dignified language, good message and social concerns were the priority of the government.
Tourism Minister Raju Kumar Singh said that Bihar has immense possibilities in the field of art, culture and tourism.
He said the government was committed to provide facilities to film makers. Historical places like Gayaji, Valmikinagar, Vaishali were being prepared for shootings. Schemes worth Rs 800 crore have already been approved during Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's 'Pragati Yatra'.
Film producer Chetna Jham, who announced she will shoot her next film 'Anmol Ghadi' in Bihar, said that the first President of India who belonged to Bihar Dr. Rajendra Prasad gave a glorious start to Bhojpuri cinemas but unfortunately its dignity was fading away.
Stressing the need for choosing dignified words, language and content, Jham said a road map should be prepared for Bhojpuri films following a dialogue with theatres and hall owners.
