Veteran actor Nana Patekar cremated with full state honours; CM Fadnavis, DyCM Shinde attend

Pune, Oct 8 (UNI) Veteran actor Nana Patekar, who passed away on Thursday morning at age 75, was cremated with full state honours at his farmhouse in Donje village near Pune.
His last rites were performed at his farmhouse, late this evening.
Patekar, one of the most distinctive performers of Marathi and Hindi cinema, was accorded a state funeral at his farmhouse in Pune, following his death in Goa earlier in the day.
The Maharashtra government had announced that his last rites would be conducted with full state honours in recognition of his contribution to Marathi theatre, Marathi cinema and Hindi films.
His final journey culminated at his 27-acre farmhouse, popularly known as Nanachi Wadi, in Donje village near Khadakwasla and Sinhagad late this evening.
The farmhouse had a special place in Patekar’s life. He frequently spent time there and was closely associated with farming and rural life.
His connection with the area also became significant through his social work, particularly the activities of the Naam Foundation, which has worked with farmers and people.
People from Donje and surrounding areas, admirers, members of the film fraternity and others gathered to pay their last respects.
Authorities made arrangements for proper security.
Several dignitaries attended the late actor's funeral, including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Muralidhar Mohol, MoS for Civil Aviation; Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra; Madhuri Misal, MoS for Town Planning, BJP MLAs Gopichand Padalkar and Bhimrao Tapkir; MLC Sadabhau Khot; and Tukaram Mundhe, Additional Chief Secretary of the Maharashtra government.
