PM Modi hails Anant nag as Dadasaheb Phalke award honours a legendary career

New Delhi, Sep 16 (UNI)Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated veteran actor Anant Nag on being conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, describing the honour as a richly deserved recognition of an artiste whose remarkable body of work has left an enduring imprint on Indian cinema, particularly Kannada cinema.
In a post on social media platform X, Modi lauded Nag's decades-long contribution to the film industry, underlining his versatility, effortless performances and ability to lend depth and authenticity to every character he portrayed.
"Congratulations to the legendary Anant Nag Ji on being conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke Award," the Prime Minister said.
"For several decades, his effortless performances, remarkable versatility and brilliance have left a very strong mark on Indian cinema, particularly Kannada cinema. In whichever role he has played, he brought rare depth and authenticity," Modi added.
Calling the recognition a fitting tribute to the veteran actor's distinguished career, Modi said, "This is indeed a richly deserved honour for a truly distinguished artist."
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is the highest national honour in Indian cinema and recognises individuals for their outstanding and sustained contribution to the growth and development of the country's film industry. Nag's selection places a spotlight on a career that has traversed several decades and encompasses a wide range of roles and cinematic traditions.
