CM greets Delhiites on Diwali, says women' prosperity, daughters’ bright future, dignified housing for poor govt’s priorities

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, while extending her warm greetings on the auspicious occasion of Diwali to the residents of the national capital, wished for their happiness, peace, prosperity, and well-being.
She stated that the festival of Goddess Lakshmi delivers the message of economic prosperity and self-reliance. In line with this spirit, the Delhi government is initiating the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana to empower women economically by providing an assistance of Rs 2,500 every month to eligible women. Meanwhile, through the Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, efforts are being made to ensure financial security for daughters right from birth to their education and higher studies.
The CM remarked that development does not merely mean constructing large projects, but bringing positive transformation into the life of every family. With this objective, the government has notified a new rehabilitation policy reflecting the spirit of 'Jahan Jhuggi, Wahan Makaan', aimed at providing dignified pucca houses to eligible slum dwellers. Facilities related to education, healthcare, roads, water, sewage, and public transport are also being consistently fortified.
The Chief Minister called upon the people of Delhi to embrace love, harmony, cleanliness, and environmental protection as an integral part of their lives.
She urged that, "Let us all come together this Diwali and resolve to build a Delhi where every home flourishes with happiness, every daughter's dreams take flight, every family leads a safe and dignified life, and future generations inherit a clean, beautiful, and developed Delhi."
Meanwhile, lauding the soldiers and the police personnel of the nation, she said that people are able to celebrate in peace as the soldiers guard the borders while police personnel maintain law and order across the cities.
CM urged everyone that when they light up Diyas on the festival of lights, should light one Diya in honor of the Defence and the Police forces.
