PM Modi greets former President Kovind on birthday, praises his commitment to constitutional values

New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended warm birthday greetings to former President Ram Nath Kovind, praising his decades-long public life and commitment to India's development, constitutional values and the welfare of the people.
In a post on social media platform X, Modi said, "Warm birthday greetings to former President Shri Ram Nath Kovind Ji."
The Prime Minister said Kovind's "long years in public life have been marked by a steadfast commitment to the development of India, the values enshrined in our Constitution and welfare of the people."
Modi also praised Kovind for serving the nation with "passion and simplicity", qualities which, he said, had earned the former President respect across different sections of society.
"He has served the nation with passion and simplicity due to which he is respected by people across all walks of life," Modi said.
Wishing Kovind good health, happiness and longevity, the Prime Minister added, "May he be blessed with wonderful health, happiness and a long life."
Kovind served as the 14th President of India from 2017 to 2022. Before becoming President, he served as Governor of Bihar and was a member of the Rajya Sabha. A lawyer by profession, Kovind was associated with public life and public service for several decades.
His tenure as President ended in July 2022, when Droupadi Murmu succeeded him as India's 15th President.
