Delhi court permits Tihar authority to respond to Mumbai terror attacks accused Rana

New Delhi, June 4 (UNI) A Delhi court on Wednesday allowed the Tihar jail Authorities to file their response to 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana's application seeking permission to speak to his family members.

Special Judge Chander Jit Singh, after hearing, permitted Tihar Jail Authorities to file their response to Rana's application and adjourned the matter to June 9.

The National Investigating Agency filed its response to Rana's application and also supplied its copy to the jail authorities on the court's direction.

Tahawwur Rana, 64 Year old Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman, is allegedly a close associate of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks main conspirator, David Coleman Headley alias Daood Gilani, a US citizen.

The court had earlier also dismissed the application of Rana seeking to talk with his family members.

A group of 10 Pakistani terrorists went on a rampage in November 2008, carrying out a coordinated attack on a railway station, two luxury hotels and a Jewish centre, after they sneaked into Mumbai using the sea route in the Arabian Sea. About 166 people were killed due to this assault.

Rana is accused of conspiring with Headley and operatives of designated terrorist organisations to carry out the three days terror siege of India's financial capital.

The US Supreme Court last month dismissed the review petition of Rana, a key accused in the 2008 terror attacks, against his extradition and cleared the way for his transfer to Indian custody. UNI XC SSP
