New Delhi, Sep 20 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed deep grief over the sudden and untimely demise of senior journalist Payal Mehta, remembering her commitment to ground-level reporting, nuanced understanding of national issues and the kindness and warmth with which she touched the lives of those around her.
According to reports, Mehta, a prominent political journalist associated with Network18, passed away in Mumbai after she suddenly experienced physical uneasiness late on Saturday night. She was reportedly rushed to a local hospital at around 2 am, but died before medical treatment could be administered.
In a condolence message posted on social media platform X, Modi described Mehta as a hardworking journalist who remained closely connected to the ground and brought a deep understanding of national issues to her reporting.
Recalling her contributions beyond journalism, Modi highlighted Mehta’s personal warmth and the impact she had on those who knew her.
“Beyond her work, she will be remembered for the kindness and warmth with which she touched so many lives. Her sudden and untimely passing is extremely saddening,” he said.
