Shah, Rajnath pay tributes to Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his death anniversary

New Delhi, June 23 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday paid tributes to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his death anniversary, healing his lifelong dedication to national unity and integrity.

In a post on X, Shah described Mookerjee as a “stalwart of the country's unity, integrity, and cultural nationalism”.

“Dr Mookerjee was a true architect of national unity. He never compromised with divisive forces in West Bengal and Jammu & Kashmir and even relinquished power by resigning from Nehru's cabinet,” he said.

He further said, “By founding the Jana Sangh, Dr Mookerjee provided the country with a political alternative that upheld national interest as paramount. He sacrificed his life to ensure that Jammu & Kashmir remained an integral part of India.”

“The life of such a true devotee of the motherland, the revered Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, will continue to inspire countless Indians for generations to come,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rajnath Singh also remembered Dr Mookerjee as a statesman who devoted his life to India’s unity and integrity.

In a post on X, the defence minister said, “Heartfelt tributes to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his punyatithi. A distinguished statesman, scholar and patriot, he devoted his life to safeguarding India’s unity and integrity. His ideals continue to inspire generations committed to nation-building.”
