PM Modi, Sri Lankan President Dissanayaka jointly inaugurate railway projects in Anuradhapura

Colombo/New Delhi, Apr 6 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka visited Anuradhapura on Sunday where they jointly inaugurated India-financed railway projects, and also visited the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi temple.

The PM said in posts on X:
“In Anuradhapura, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and I jointly inaugurated the track upgradation of the existing Maho-Omanthai railway line.
“The signalling project which involves the installation of an advanced signalling and telecommunication system along the Maho-Anuradhapura section was also launched.
“India is proud to support Sri Lanka in various aspects of their development journey.”
The MEA spokesperson posted:
“PM @narendramodi & President @anuradisanayake jointly inaugurated India-assisted railway modernisation projects in Anuradhapura:
“• Maho to Omanthai rail track
• Signalling project for the Maho to Anuradhapura rail line.
“These projects will transform the north-south rail connectivity in Sri Lanka.”
On his visit to the Jaya Sri Mahabodhi temple, the PM wrote on X:
“Offered prayers at the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura with President Dissanayake.
“It’s a deeply humbling moment to be at one of the most revered sites in Buddhism.
“It is a living symbol of peace, enlightenment and spiritual continuity. May the teachings of Lord Buddha always guide us.”
The MEA spokesperson posted:
“Offering prayers for the prosperity of the people of India and Sri Lanka.
“PM @narendramodi along with President @anuradisanayake of Sri Lanka visited the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi temple in Anuradhapura.
“The temple stands as a testament to the strong and ever growing civilisational ties between India and Sri Lanka.”
Earlier, the PM posted a photograph of travelling with the Sri Lankan President to Anuradhapura, with both leaders smiling.
