New Delhi, Apr 30 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be attending the Victory Day Parade in Moscow on May 9. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will represent India at the celebrations, sources said.
“An invitation was extended to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the Victory Day Parade at Moscow.
"The Russian side was informed earlier that India would be represented by Raksha Mantri, Shri Rajnath Singh,” the sources added.
The celebrations at Red Square in Moscow will mark the 80th anniversary of the Soviet role in the victory over Nazi Germany.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday that India will not be represented at the highest level at this year's parade.
PM Modi’s skipping the May 9 celebrations in Moscow comes amid the rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack.
