BJP announces RS candidates for Uttarakhand, West Bengal

New Delhi, Oct 4 (UNI) The BJP today announced senior leader Dinesh Arya as its candidate for the 2026 Rajya Sabha biennial election in Uttarakhand and Rukmini Mallick, also known as Koel Mallick, from West Bengal.
In Uttarakhand, the by-election is necessitated by the completion of the term of sitting Rajya Sabha member Naresh Bansal. Arya currently holds the position of Minister of State rank in the Uttarakhand government and serves as vice-chairperson of the state-level Drinking Water Monitoring Council.
Tollywood actress Koel Mallick was elected to the Rajya Sabha on a Trinamool Congress ticket earlier this year. She resigned within weeks, becoming fourth Trinamool Rajya Sabha MP to quit. Earlier, Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, Sushmita Dev and Prakash Chik Baraik had also resigned from the Upper House to join the BJP.
