BJP top brass meets ahead of Opposition protest, key Assembly polls

New Delhi, Oct 29 (UNI) BJP president Nitin Nabin on Thursday chaired a meeting of the party’s national general secretaries at the party headquarters. The meeting comes ahead of the Congress-led INDIA bloc’s November 1 protest in the national capital and key Assembly elections in five states, including Uttar Pradesh.
People familiar with the developments said the BJP top brass discussed a range of issues, from the electoral strategy to organisational matters, including the INDIA bloc’s scheduled anti-SIR protests on November 1.
The meeting was attended by BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santhosh, along with other general secretaries, including Vinod Tawde, Smriti Irani, Biplab Kumar Deb, Sunil Bansal and Satish Poonia.
Sharing images of the meeting, the BJP said in a post on X: “BJP National President Nitin Nabin held a meeting with the National General Secretaries at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi today, where he conducted detailed discussions on the upcoming action plan and various matters related to the organisation.”
The meeting also followed setbacks in MLC elections from Varanasi and Nagpur, considered BJP strongholds. The elections to 28 MLC seats across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka gave the BJP an edge over its rivals, however, the party lost in strongholds such as Nagpur and Varanasi.
Sources said the meeting also discussed the issue and reasons apart from the party’s multi-pronged campaign for the Assembly elections and the strategy to counter the Congress-led INDIA bloc’s aggressive campaign.
