CJP backs INDIA bloc’s November 1 rally against SIR, demands CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation

New Delhi, Oct 28 (UNI) The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Wednesday announced its support for the INDIA bloc’s November 1 rally against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, while renewing its demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
In a statement issued on social media, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke criticised the electoral roll revision exercise, alleging that it had raised concerns over the possible deletion of eligible voters’ names and the protection of their constitutional voting rights.
The party argued that the Election Commission of India (ECI) must ensure that every eligible citizen retains the opportunity to exercise their franchise, maintaining that the integrity of electoral rolls was fundamental to a functioning democracy.
“The fundamental principle of democracy is that people get to choose their government, not that the government gets to choose its voters,” the CJP said, reiterating its opposition to the manner in which the SIR exercise was being conducted.
Announcing its backing for the opposition bloc’s proposed demonstration, Dipke posted a strongly worded message on social media, declaring, “GYANU MUST GO! The Cockroach Janta Party extends its support to the INDIA Bloc’s November 1 rally. Nation above all!”
The CJP also invoked the Constitution and the ideals of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, arguing that democratic governance rests on political equality and the protection of the voting rights of all eligible citizens.
Questioning the implications of the SIR exercise, the party maintained that any process that risks excluding legitimate voters warrants scrutiny and accountability. It said the Election Commission’s primary responsibility was to protect the electoral rights of citizens rather than allow doubts to persist over the inclusion of eligible voters.
