Delhi CM assures support to animal activist Jagriti Mishra

New Delhi, Oct 25 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday met animal welfare activist Jagriti Mishra in outer Delhi and has assured all possible support to her in her work.
CM has said that an inquiry into the Junior Engineer’s conduct has been ordered, and police have been directed to register a case against those responsible in connection with the activist’s animal shelter issue.
Gupta emphasized that her government will not tolerate harassment of citizens or misuse of authority. Those found guilty will face strict action under the law.
The District Magistrate has been instructed to assist her in setting up the animal shelter, CM added, while financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh from CM Relief Fund has also been assured in this regard, Gupta said.
CM also instructed the DCP concerned to file a complaint against those who had reached the place and allegedly threatened Jagriti and tried to pressurize her.
Meanwhile, Mundka MLA Gajendra Daral was also present on the spot along with CM. Gupta also asked the DC to seek an explanation from the JE in the form of a show cause notice.
Recently, a video of the animal activist had gone viral on the social media where she could be seen questioning the alleged conduct of the JE, and other people including a local, regarding efforts to obstruct the construction work.
In the videos on social media, Mishra has alleged action was taken to halt construction of the animal shelter after she had refused to pay a bribe, besides pressure from some local inhabitants.
She has asserted that the construction was being done on her own land, for which she claims to have valid documentation, while adding that no intimation of any sort was given to her, nor any notice was served to her before the action was taken. UNI AP CDS
