CPI(M) to join INDIA bloc protest on Oct 8; demands removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar

Kaithal, Oct 5 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) will participate in large numbers in the INDIA bloc’s joint protest on October 8, said Jai Prakash, acting Secretary of the CPI(M) District Committee, in a press statement issued on Monday.
Jai Prakash said the October 8 demonstration would press for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, an immediate halt to the deletion of voters’ names, restoration of deleted votes, and re-elections in constituencies where eligible voters were allegedly disenfranchised.
The party also demanded that the Election Commission of India function in an impartial and transparent manner and that Election Commissioners be appointed through a mechanism based on the recommendations of the Supreme Court.
