Four killed in road accident in Chhattisgarh

Pendra, June 16 (UNI) Three youths and a young woman were killed in a road accident in GPM district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Monday.



The accident occurred near Mazhgaon village in the Pendra police station area late on Sunday night, when a speeding car, allegedly with an inebriated driver behind the wheels, crashed into two motorcyclists and subsequently collided with a tree.



Three persons died on the spot while a young woman, Shanu Kewat, sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the district hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment in the morning.



The deceased were identified as Gangaram Ghandharv, Ramavatar Gond, Bhupendra Gond, and Shanu Kewat.



The motorcyclists were reportedly returning to Pendra late at night after celebrating a friend's birthday when the accident occurred. The car driver, Snehl Gupta, was also injured in the accident and was brought to the district hospital.



Additional Superintendent of Police Om Chandel said that a case has been registered against the car driver under serious sections. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after post-mortem.
