Two killed, two injured after speeding car ploughs into roadwork site on Dwarka expressway

Panchkula, Sep 17 (UNI) Two workers were killed and two others critically injured after a speeding car allegedly ploughed into a group carrying out repair work on the Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram, police said on Thursday.
The accident occurred near Shri Ram Chowk, where four workers were installing an iron grille along the divider on a flyover.
The deceased have been identified as Bijender and Pappu, both residents of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, the workers were working along the divider on a flyover when a car travelling at high speed from the Delhi direction, hit them. Following this, the two of them suffered fatal injuries.
The other two workers tried to escape by jumping towards the green belt, but the car veered off the carriageway and reportedly hit them as well.
The impact badly damaged the front portion of the vehicle. The occupants of the car, including the driver, also suffered injuries.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the two workers were sent for post-mortem examination.
Police are examining the circumstances leading to the crash, including the speed of the vehicle and safety arrangements at the roadwork site.
A case is being investigated by Bajghera police, which said action will be taken on the basis of evidence and responsibility established during the probe.
