Haryana sets up state panel to monitor crop insurance outreach, use of funds

Panchkula, Sep 25 (UNI) The Haryana government has set up a state committee to watch over efforts to raise awareness about crop insurance and to make sure funds from insurance companies are used openly and responsibly, according to a notification.
The State-Level Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Advisory Committee will supervise activities under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), the Restructured Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS), and other crop insurance programs.
The Director General or Director of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Haryana, will lead the eight-member committee. The State Nodal Officer (PMFBY) or Joint Director (Statistics) will act as member secretary. The panel will also have representatives from the State Level Bankers’ Committee, insurance companies involved in the program, Common Service Centres, the Government of India, and central and state project monitoring units.
