UP Govt’s industrial development agenda gains momentum, industrial future of BIDA taking shape in Bundelkhand

Lucknow, Oct 2 (UNI) Infrastructure development and land acquisition in the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA) area have gained momentum as part of efforts to develop Uttar Pradesh as a new center of industrial investment.
According to BIDA data as of October 1, 2026, out of the total approved area of 56,662 acres across 33 villages for the project, 28,874 acres of land have been acquired so far. In the first phase, 35,298 acres and in the second phase, 21,364 acres of land have been approved.
Land acquisition in the BIDA area has progressed steadily over the past few months. From November to September, the government acquired a total of 7,026 additional acres.
In September 2026 alone, 616 acres of land were acquired, bringing the total to 28,874 acres. This land acquisition is creating an important foundation for making the land required for the proposed industrial, commercial and infrastructural development in BIDA available.
An area of 2,320 acres in BIDA has been identified as the Activation Area. In its first phase, 1,000 acres are proposed for development.
A draft sector plan has been prepared, and after the master plan is approved, the process for final approval will proceed. Preparations are underway to accelerate the development of roads, water supply, electricity supply and other essential infrastructure facilities in this area.
Officials here said that development works proposed for the Activation Area include a 132 KV electricity transmission line, 30 MLD water trunk line, road infrastructure, storm water drain, electricity duct, cycle track, footpath, avenue plantation, administrative building and ICCC, entry gate, water distribution pipeline and overhead tank, as well as electricity distribution network and 33/11 KV substation. The estimated total cost of these works is Rs. 447.01 crore.
The Government has approved these projects to be carried out under the Atal Industrial Infrastructure Mission. DPRs for the related works have been prepared, and the examination process is underway.
A cluster-based development plan has been prepared for various industrial activities in the BIDA area. These include sectors such as data center/IT, chemical, and defense.
An area of 1,000 acres has been identified for the data center/IT cluster, of which 810 acres have already been acquired. This cluster-based development will pave the way for developing integrated infrastructure facilities for diverse industrial activities in the BIDA area.
Inter-state coordination is also being undertaken regarding the availability of water required for the BIDA project. Following a demi-official letter from the Chief Secretary, Uttar Pradesh, to the Chief Secretary, Madhya Pradesh, and subsequent discussions, a meeting was held with the Water Resources Department of Madhya Pradesh on September 23, 2026.
During the meeting, the Madhya Pradesh government conveyed its consent to make available 216 MLD of water for the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority project.
Given BIDA’s potential, leading companies and institutions from various sectors have shown interest in investing.
The list of potential investors for BIDA includes Samvardhan Motherson International Limited, BEML Limited, Raphe mPhibr, Fair Exports Private Limited (Lulu Group), Prabhatam Group, CONCOR, Siddharth Logistics, Sify Technologies, Shri Satish Chandra Goel Charitable Trust (Muzaffarnagar Medical College) and NICDC. These interests span the automotive, defence, FMCG, healthcare, logistics, IT, and institutional sectors.
Various projects are also underway to connect the BIDA area to a comprehensive connectivity and logistics network. With the cooperation of the Government of India, projects such as the Agra-Gwalior six-lane expressway, Delhi-Mumbai rail connectivity, a multimodal cargo park, and connectivity related to the Defence Corridor are progressing.
Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority also showcased its industrial potential and investment opportunities at the UP International Trade Show-2026. BIDA’s exhibition stall was awarded the Best Display Award.
This provided an opportunity to present BIDA’s industrial vision, infrastructure development, and investment potential to national and international investors. UNI MBD SAS
