'Haryana steps up natural farming push with financial incentives, subsidised machinery'

Ladwa (Kurukshetra), Sep 23 (UNI) In a major push aimed at reducing farmers’ cultivation costs and improving their long-term returns, Haryana is expanding natural farming, subsidising access to agricultural machinery and incentivising crop-residue management, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Wednesday, announcing a 2,000-acre natural farming cluster in Kurukshetra in collaboration with Haryana Agricultural University.
Addressing the concluding session of the fifth CII Innovative Farmers Meet in Ladwa, Saini said the government’s focus was not merely on promoting new farming methods but on ensuring that technology, subsidies, scientific advice and market support translate into tangible benefits for farmers, particularly small and marginal cultivators.
He said farmers would receive Rs 1,200 per acre as an incentive for proper management and baling of crop residue, while 6,794 Custom Hiring Centres had been established with 80 per cent subsidy, enabling farmers to access modern agricultural machinery without having to individually bear the full cost. The government has so far provided Rs 1,017 crore in subsidy for these centres, he said.
