Shimla, Mar 27 (UNI) Air services to Shimla’s Jubbarhati Airport resumed on Thursday after a three-day suspension following an 'abnormal landing' involving an ATR plane on Monday.
The incident, which could have led to a major mishap, forced the temporary halt of flights.
The aircraft, operated by Alliance Air, reportedly 'burst its tyres' while decelerating on the runway. It remained parked about '200 meters away from the terminal' for three days before being flown back to Delhi on Wednesday afternoon.
Prior to the resumption of services, a 'Chinox helicopter conducted an aerial survey' of the runway for two days to assess the situation.
Sources indicate that the abnormal landing was caused by the 'short airstrip', with the aircraft touching down 'a few meters away from the critical landing point'.
This deviation allegedly caused the plane to 'overshoot the runway', ending up near the corner of the airport.
The 'Delhi-Shimla flight' finally landed safely at Jubbarhati Airport at '8 AM on Thursday', marking the restoration of services after the two-day suspension.
