Haryana anti-corruption bureau chargesheet child welfare panel member in Rs 42,000 bribery case

Faridabad, Oct 13 (UNI) The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB) has filed a chargesheet against Vikram Vashisht, a member of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) in Palwal, for allegedly demanding Rs 42,000 to facilitate the release of a young woman from a children's home.
The chargesheet was submitted before District and Sessions Judge Raj Gupta in Palwal under Section 7 and Section 13(1)(b), read with Section 13(2), of the Prevention of Corruption Act, the bureau said.
According to the SV&ACB, the case originated from a complaint lodged on January 23, 2026, by a man who claimed to be in a relationship with a young woman named Asma. Her family allegedly opposed the relationship, and she had been placed at a children's home in Badhola, Palwal, while she was a minor.
The complainant alleged that after the woman attained adulthood, he repeatedly approached the authorities seeking her release. Vashisht allegedly demanded between Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000 to facilitate the process before agreeing to accept Rs 42,000.
Investigators said the accused had allegedly already received Rs 32,000 and was demanding the remaining Rs 10,000. He subsequently called the complainant to collect Rs 5,000 as part of the outstanding amount.
Acting on the complaint, an SV&ACB team from Faridabad laid a trap on January 23 and allegedly caught Vashisht red-handed while accepting Rs 5,000. The money was recovered, and he was arrested.
An FIR, numbered 02, was registered at the SV&ACB police station in Faridabad on January 23 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Following the investigation, the bureau submitted the chargesheet before the Palwal court, adding further provisions of the anti-corruption law.
