Srinagar man charged with using fake medical papers to get job at SKIMS Bemina

Srinagar, July 3 (UNI) The Economic Offences Wing (EoW) of J&K Police today filed a charge sheet against a Srinagar resident for allegedly using forged medical documents, including a fake Medical Council of India (MCI) registration certificate, to secure employment at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Medical College, Bemina.

A statement said the EoW, Srinagar, formerly Crime Branch Kashmir, submitted charge-sheet in a case registered in 2023 before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar against Numan Farooq Wani of Umarabad Zainakote Srinagar for submitting fake MCI registration certificate and other medical documents at the time of his engagement at SKIMS Bemina, Srinagar.

The EoW said they received a complaint alleging therein that Numan working at SKIMS Medical College and Hospital Bemina Srinagar since December 2016 and is drawing salary from government exchequer on the basis of fake medical registration certificate. It further alleged that the MBBS MD Certificate and registration certificate from MCI and State Medical Council were fake.
Upon receipt of this complaint a case FIR No. 01/2023 was registered at Police Station Economic Offences Wing Srinagar (CBK).
The investigation of the case was concluded as proved against the accused person for commission of offences U/S 420, 468, 471, 201 Ranbir Penal Code and the charge-report (challan) of the instant case has accordingly been presented in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar for judicial determination.

Officials familiar with the investigation revealed that Noman had served as the nodal officer for SKIMS Bemina during the COVID-19 pandemic and had managed to secure multiple extensions in service. They added that he allegedly used the registration number of another doctor to fraudulently obtain the job.
