Fugitive held in Panchkula civic body FDR scam; accused of diverting Rs 5.19 crore to joint account with wife

Panchkula, Sep 10 (UNI) The Haryana State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested a fugitive accused in the multi-crore Panchkula Municipal Corporation FDR and funds embezzlement case, with investigators alleging that he helped divert about Rs 5.19 crore of civic body funds to a bank account jointly held with his wife.
According to a press note issued here late Thursday evening, the accused, Samar Mohan Ranga, a resident of Mohali in Punjab, was arrested from the Panchkula district court and produced before a court, which remanded him in police custody for two days.
According to the Bureau, Ranga had been absconding in the case.
