UP: Five arrested for BSP leader's murder in Firozabad

Firozabad (UP), Apr 27 (UNI) Five persons were arrested by the police on Sunday in connection with murder of local Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader in Tundla area of Firozabad district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said here.
Superintendent of Police (City) Ravi Shankar Prasad said that former district panchayat member of BSP, Vinod Kumar alias Pappu Kushwaha (50), a resident of Mohammadabad village, was stabbed and shot while he was going somewhere on his motorcycle from home at around 10:00 am on Saturday.
He said that a case was lodged by the deceased's son Prince against seven persons. "Tundla police and SOG team took action in the related case and surrounded the accused hiding in the ruins of a water park on Sunday morning," he said.
The SP said that while the police arrested Hrithik, Pankaj, Sachin and Mukul from the spot, another accused Ankit attempted to escape from the police. "While trying to escape, he opened fire on the police team. In the retaliatory action Ankit was shot in the leg and he was injured due to the bullet. He has been admitted to the Government Trauma Centre," he said.
He said that the police have also recovered two murder weapons, two illicit pistols, live cartridges and empty shells from the possession of the arrested accused. "The arrested accused revealed that 9 years ago Subhash Kushwaha was murdered in the village in which Vinod Kushwaha and his minor son were considered accused," he said.
Prasad said that Subhash's son Pankaj had hatched a conspiracy to murder Vinod to take revenge for his father's murder. "After necessary legal action, the police have sent all the arrested accused to jail," he said.
