Speed, scale, connectivity have changed face of UP: Yogi

Lucknow, Oct 29 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday highlighted the expansion of road, rail, metro and air connectivity in the state since 2017, saying the mantra of speed, scale and connectivity has changed its face.
In a post on X, Adityanath said improved connectivity not only reduced travel distances but also saved time, enhanced convenience and opened up new avenues of prosperity.
However, before 2017, the state’s transport infrastructure, a key driver of development, was in a deplorable condition.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the double-engine government has transformed the state’s connectivity landscape through its focus on speed, scale and connectivity, the Chief Minister said.
He noted that before the BJP-led double-engine government came to power, Uttar Pradesh, the country’s most populous state, had only one and a half expressways. Today, 10 expressways are operational in the state. Similarly, air connectivity, once limited to a handful of cities, has expanded significantly, with 12 domestic and five international airports. While no city in the state had metro services earlier, metro connectivity is now available in seven cities, giving a new impetus to urban mobility.
"At that time, air services were limited to a select few cities, but today, with 12 domestic and 5 international airports, the state’s flight is reaching new heights. At that time, not a single city in the state had metro services. In contrast, today, metro services are giving a new pace to life in 7 cities,”he said.
The Chief Minister said this transformation is enabling farmers to access larger markets for their produce and creating new opportunities for entrepreneurship. It is also making access to education and employment easier for young people while helping working professionals save valuable time.
He further stated that the expansion of connectivity is boosting tourism and strengthening the livelihoods of local families.
“This pace of development is transforming the lives of citizens, from villages to towns and from towns to cities. Opportunities across every sector, greater capacity for every enterprise and growing prosperity for every family are becoming the defining features of ‘New Uttar Pradesh’ in ‘New India’,” the Chief Minister said.
