Gadkari inaugurates and lays foundation for eight National Highway projects worth Rs 3,650 crore in Jaunpur

Jaunpur, Nov 5 (UNI) Taking Uttar Pradesh's infrastructure and road connectivity to new heights, union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Thursday performed the groundbreaking ceremony, commencement of work, and inauguration of eight important National Highway projects worth over ₹3,650 crore at a function held in Mungra-Badshahpur in Jaunpur district.
These development projects, falling under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Regional Office - Uttar Pradesh (East), span a total length of approximately 191.5 kilometers.
On this occasion, the union Minister reiterated the government's commitment to the region's all-round development and improved transportation system.
During the event, union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, also inaugurated and dedicated to the nation three completed projects worth ₹3,210 crore.
These include the Rae Bareli-Prayagraj 4-lane road (63 km) constructed at a cost of ₹1,505 crore, the Jagatpur-Babuganj-Unchahar-Alapur 4-lane bypass and bridge (24 km) constructed at a cost of ₹1,078 crore, and the Machhlishahr-Janghai-Bhadohi road (49 km) constructed at a cost of ₹627 crore.
In addition, five new projects worth approximately ₹400 crore were also inaugurated and groundbreaking ceremonies were held to ease traffic in the region.
Under this, construction work was started on the Mungra-Badshahpur bypass (4 km, cost ₹198 crore), the four-lane widening from Kuttupur intersection to Sarai Khwaja in Jaunpur city (12 km, cost ₹128 crore), the overbridge at Madiyahun railway crossing (1.5 km, cost ₹92 crore), the four-lane road from Lata Mangeshkar intersection to Prasad Institute (5 km, cost ₹33 crore), and the two-lane bridge over the Sai River at Ramdayal Ganj (cost ₹16 crore).
In his address during the ceremony, union Minister Mr Gadkari said that historic works worth ₹5 lakh crore on national highways are currently underway in Uttar Pradesh.
Of this, works worth ₹1 lakh crore have been fully completed, projects worth ₹3 lakh crore are in process, and the remaining works are ongoing.
Gadkari stated that the Prime Minister has pledged to develop the country. To achieve this goal, the country must rapidly progress on the path of progress, which requires strengthening water, electricity, telecommunications, and road infrastructure.
He emphasized that where these four elements are present, development is accompanied by the creation of large-scale employment opportunities.
Today, Uttar Pradesh is progressing on this path of development, with excellent roads being built and attracting industries. Discussing technological changes in the agricultural and rural landscape, the union Minister said that while our farmers are food providers, our endeavor is to make them "energy providers" and "fuel providers" as well.
He explained that the country is now generating energy and ethanol from rice and sugarcane on a large scale. This initiative is not only alleviating poverty among the country's farmers but also providing employment to youth in rural areas.
Highlighting technological advancements and the future outlook, Gadkari said that the world is rapidly changing, and the use of electric and solar energy is constantly increasing. The current government is working diligently to promote this new technology.
He expressed confidence that as a result of these all-round developments taking place in Uttar Pradesh, the state will soon become an energy exporter rather than an energy importer.
