Yogi calls for linking emerging technologies with public welfare, justice

Lucknow, Oct 24 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said linking emerging technological possibilities with public welfare, justice and a brighter future for youth was the need of the hour.
He stressed the need to promote modern technology, scientific research and skilled human resources in cybersecurity and forensic science.
In a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said he would participate in ‘TechSangam 2026’, being organised at the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS) in Lucknow.
Focusing on emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, cyber forensics, quantum technology and data protection, the event provides an opportunity to explore how technological innovation can strengthen citizen safety, improve the justice system and enhance digital trust, he said.
Adityanath described the event as a reflection of the changing work culture in Uttar Pradesh. He said that before 2017, the state, despite having the country's largest population, had only two cyber police stations and four forensic laboratories.
The inadequate use of scientific and technological capabilities, coupled with a lack of scientific evidence, often allowed criminals to escape legal consequences, with the conviction rate remaining below 30 per cent, he said.
After 2017, the state government worked to address these shortcomings, Adityanath said, adding that all 75 districts now have cyber police stations and efforts are underway to establish forensic laboratories in every division.
He said the expansion of technological infrastructure and scientific investigation capabilities had strengthened the state's ability to tackle emerging challenges, including cybercrime, and bring offenders to justice. He also noted an increase in the conviction rate.
The Chief Minister said emerging fields such as forensic science and cybersecurity were creating opportunities for quality education, research and employment for the state's youth. Technology, he added, was helping improve the delivery of justice while opening up new avenues for young people.
According to Adityanath, the event will bring together scientists, technical experts, policymakers, legal professionals and industry representatives from India and abroad on a common platform.
Discussions on cybersecurity, the reliability of digital evidence and the responsible use of emerging technologies are expected to open new avenues for collaboration among research institutions, educational establishments and industry, he said.
He added that such collaboration would contribute to India's self-reliance in emerging technologies and help make citizens' lives safer and more convenient. It would also support the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' through the strength of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat', he said.
