Swiss President arrives at Noida International Airport, explores cooperation in IT, electronics and aviation sectors

Noida/Lucknow, Oct 6 (UNI) The Yogi Adityanath government's efforts to position Uttar Pradesh as a major destination for global investment and modern industrial development gained an international dimension on Tuesday with the arrival of Swiss President Guy Bernard Parmelin at Noida International Airport in Jewar, leading an approximately 65-member delegation.
The visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to potential cooperation between Uttar Pradesh and Switzerland in the economic, technological, and aviation sectors.

At Noida International Airport, on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government, IT and Electronics Cabinet Minister Sunil Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary of the Civil Aviation Department and IIDC Deepak Kumar, and Invest UP Chief Executive Officer Vijay Kiran Anand welcomed President Parmelin and his delegation by presenting them with traditional robes.
The UP government has made improved connectivity, modern infrastructure, and a conducive investment environment central to its development policy in Uttar Pradesh. The Noida International Airport is an important part of this comprehensive vision. The airport being developed in Jewar has the potential to connect western Uttar Pradesh with global air connectivity and to give a new impetus to industrial, business, and investment activities in the region.

The Swiss President's visit to Jewar Airport is also significant because the airport has been developed by a subsidiary of the Swiss company Zurich Airport International AG. This opens up a new opportunity for cooperation between the two sides on this important infrastructure project in Uttar Pradesh, built with Swiss technical expertise and investment.
The tour began at the NIA office, where a presentation on the airport was given in the Avni Board Room. President Guy-Bernard Parmelin also addressed the delegation. Lunch was then held in the courtyard of the airport complex, accompanied by the sound of Indian music, and a group photo was taken. The delegation then split into two groups. President Guy-Bernard Parmelin, his wife, and selected officials conducted a special inspection of the airside and ATC tower. Other members of the delegation conducted a detailed inspection of various airport facilities, including the terminal, security area, boarding gates, apron, and baggage reclaim. The delegation departed the airport at around 2 pm.
The approximately 65-member Swiss delegation included the President's wife, the Swiss Ambassador, members of the National Council, the Secretary of State, and approximately 40 industrialists. The delegation's presence made the visit significant not only for airport inspections but also for potential economic and industrial cooperation.
The Uttar Pradesh government's investment promotion policies and continued efforts in the IT and electronics sectors have created a favourable investment environment for global companies in the state. Consequently, the Swiss President's visit to Jewar could strengthen future collaboration and investment prospects in IT, electronics, technology, and related sectors, in addition to aviation.
