Centre proposes drug imports through three Haryana depots, Noida airport

New Delhi, Nov 2 (UNI) The union Health Ministry has proposed adding inland container depots at Sonipat, Piyala, and Harsaru in Haryana, as well as Noida International Airport in Uttar Pradesh, to the list of authorised entry points for drug imports.
The proposal forms part of a wider expansion set out in a draft notification issued which seeks to amend Rule 43A of the Drugs Rules, 1945.
Other proposed additions include the inland container depot at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh; Gandhidham/Mundra in Gujarat; Sanath Nagar and Thimmapur in Hyderabad; Whitefield in Bengaluru; and the Bommasandra Special Economic Zone in Karnataka.
The draft would retain the existing references to the Dhannad and Tihi inland container depots in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, while adding the proposed locations.
Noida International Airport would be added to the airport list through an amendment to the existing reference to Cochin, Thiruvananthapuram and Navi Mumbai.
Rule 43A governs the designated places through which drugs may be imported. The ministry had expanded the list earlier this year to include Navi Mumbai Airport.
The proposed additions have not yet taken effect. The draft specifies that the amendment would become effective upon final publication in the Official Gazette.
“They shall come into force on the date of their final publication in the Official Gazette,” the notification states.
The ministry has invited objections and suggestions within 30 days of the date on which copies of the Gazette containing the draft rules are made available to the public. The government will consider submissions received during that period before proceeding with the amendment. UNI KK CDS
