Man sentenced to death for rape and murder of minor in Kaushambi

Kaushambi (UP), May 31 (UNI) A man was held guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 35,000 by a local court here on Saturday for rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl in Kaushambi district in Uttar Pradesh, prosecution sources said here.
Prosecution sources said that a man filed a report at Kokhraj police station on April 30, 2018 that a man killed his 14-year-old niece by hitting her with a brick. "In this case, the police filed a report against Sita Sharan under the Indian Penal Code and the Pocso Act, and after investigation, presented the charge sheet in the court," they said.
The hearing of the case began in the court of Special Judge POCSO Act. "After hearing the arguments of both the parties and examining the evidence available in the file, the court found the accused Sita Sharan guilty of rape and murder of the minor after which Judge Ashok Kumar Srivastava sentenced the accused to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 35,000," they said.
