Chhattisgarh CM remembers Gandhi, Shastri on their birth anniversary, says their ideals still guide public life

New Delhi, Oct 2 (UNI) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Friday paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversaries.
He said the values they lived by- truth, non-violence, simplicity and service, remain relevant to the nation. At Chhattisgarh Sadan, Sai offered floral tributes to the two leaders on their birth anniversaries and recalled their contributions to public life.
Speaking about Gandhi, Sai said his unwavering faith in truth, non-violence and humanity carried a message of peace and harmony.
Gandhi's concern for the poorest sections of society and his vision of a self-reliant India, he said, continue to encourage people to uphold truth and discharge their responsibilities towards the country.
Sai also remembered Lal Bahadur Shastri for his simple way of life, steadfast leadership and dedication to the nation. His call of “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan”, he said, drew attention to the contribution of soldiers and farmers to India's security and economic well-being.
The Chief Minister said the lives and ideals of Gandhi and Shastri would continue to guide the country in its pursuit of public welfare, good governance and service to the nation. UNI SRC SAS
