UP CM Yogi cites improved law and order, says night-time markets reflect traders’ confidence

Lucknow, Oct 30 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, citing the improvement in the law and order situation in the state, said that the illuminated markets and open commercial establishments at night are a symbol of growing merchant confidence.
He said that before 2017, due to crime and insecurity, business activities would be limited with the sunset, whereas now the markets are bustling even at night, offering new opportunities for business expansion.
On Friday, the Chief Minister posted on the social media platform 'X', outlining his government's position regarding security and economic activity in the state. He said that in the new Uttar Pradesh, the illumination of markets and commercial establishments at night is not only a symbol of business, but also of merchant confidence.
Yogi said that the confidence shown by women fearlessly performing their duties at their workplaces during night shifts is not limited to individual achievement, but rather reflects the progress of society as a whole. According to him, previously, families used to worry about the safety of women working late into the night.
The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government has strengthened law and order by adopting a zero-tolerance policy towards crime and criminals. Prioritising women's safety has created an environment where women are advancing in a safe environment, relying on their talent and hard work.
Citing female labour force participation data, he claimed that this participation in the state, which was around 13 per cent in 2017, has now increased to 36 per cent. The Chief Minister described this as a sign of women's growing confidence, economic participation, and self-reliance.
Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh, moving from security to prosperity, is now establishing a new identity. According to him, better security arrangements are not only expanding business activities but are also opening up new avenues of employment and economic opportunities for women.
