Rajasthan: Gehlot dismisses CM Sharma's accusations as false, unfounded & unwarranted ; demands evidence or apology within 24 Hrs

Jaipur, Nov 3 (UNI) Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Ashok Gehlot today termed the accusations made by current Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma against him as 'unfounded, false and unwarranted', and demanded that the latter either substantiate his claims with documentary evidence or tender an apology within 24 hours.
In a statement issued swiftly after the Chief Minister's allegations, he dismissed the remarks by his successor as 'false'.
Gehlot said- "Today, in Jodhpur, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, made unwarranted remarks without any factual basis, which have pained me. He has personally levelled completely false allegations against me and propagated a wholly fabricated story. I, hope he will provide me with a detailed account, supported by facts and documentary evidence, and place it before people of Rajasthan as well; otherwise, he should offer an apology within 24 hours."
The 3 term CM further said, "I expected him to act in keeping with democratic propriety", to tell the people of the state the truth about the allegations of collusion being publicly reported in the media over the purchase of villas by IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal, who served as Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister himself, and about the Chief Minister's own suspicious role in this matter."
This is all the more important because the decision to grant special concessions to the Ananta company was taken at a board meeting chaired by the Chief Minister himself.
However, it appears that, gripped by a guilty conscience, the Chief Minister became rattled and crossed every limit of decorum in his language. In doing so, he made an unsuccessful attempt to mislead the public in order to divert public attention from these allegations.
"Mr Chief Minister, the question remains the same: what exactly was your role in granting a special package to Ananta Resort, given that the Investment Board, whose decision formed the basis for this package, is chaired by you? And why, after all, are you not handing over the investigation into this matter to the CBI, a cetral agency, instead of the ACB, which functions under your authority? How can an agency that comes under the Chief Minister be expected to conduct an impartial investigation into a decision taken by a board chaired by the Chief Minister himself?" the senior Congress leader added.
