Half face of Akhilesh, full insult to Baba Saheb: BJP leaders

Lucknow, Apr 29 (UNI) Several senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Minister Asim Arun, on Tuesday strongly condemned the Samajwadi Party (SP) for replacing half of Dr B R Ambedkar's image with party chief Akhilesh Yadav in a hoarding.
Calling the act deeply shameful, BJP leaders accused SP of insulting Baba Saheb and hurting the sentiments of his followers.
Deputy CM Pathak strongly objected to the hoarding, calling it a 'reflection of SP's corrupt mentality'.
He noted the deliberate insult to Baba Saheb will never be accepted by the people and the party will face consequences at the right time.
He recalled that this isn't the first time SP has shown disregard for Ambedkar, citing the removal of Ramabai Ambedkar's name from a medical college and Kanpur Dehat district during Akhilesh's tenure.
He alleged that SP's hatred for Baba Saheb is now evident through this poster and assured strict action against those responsible.
Social Welfare Minister Asim Arun said the SP hoarding amounts to a grave insult to Baba Saheb, calling it a 'deliberate and repeated act of disrespect'.
He asserted that portraying the SP chief as equal to Baba Saheb reflects a corrupt mindset and is a legal offence as well as an attack on the faith of Ambedkar's followers.
He said that SP has a history of undermining Dalit and backward class welfare, recalling how Akhilesh had scrapped several welfare schemes during his tenure.
He remarked the people will neither accept nor forget this insult.
MLC Dr Lalji Prasad Nirmal condemned the hoarding, declaring that Ambedkarites will not tolerate any insult to Baba Saheb.
He accused Akhilesh of being anti-Dalit, citing his decision to ban reservation in promotions for Dalit personnel, which caused significant hardship for officers and employees from the community.
Rajya Sabha MP Brij Lal condemned the hoarding and the message conveyed by the SP chief through it.
He criticised him for equating himself with Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and said that Akhilesh is not even worthy of being the dust beneath Dr Ambedkar's feet.
BJP MLA Meenakshi Singh condemned the act of cutting Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s photo in half and displaying it outside the SP office.
She criticised the SP for talking about PDA while simultaneously insulting Baba Saheb.
She said that Akhilesh's silence on the matter suggests his tacit approval of the insult.
She demanded an apology from him, stating that she and the Dalit community would never tolerate such disrespect.
