Shimla police strengthen traffic management amid tourist surge

Shimla, June 14 (UNI) In view of the ongoing summer tourist season and a significant rise in vehicular traffic across Shimla city, Shimla police have implemented special measures to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.
To bolster field enforcement, 46 additional police officers have been deployed to the Traffic Wing, Shimla. These officials have been strategically posted to 23 vacant traffic duty points across the city, with the objective of enhancing traffic regulation in congestion- prone areas.
Additionally, four more bike riders have been deployed, increasing the total number of traffic bike riders to 21. These personnel will enhance rapid mobility, assist in managing the heavy vehicular inflow, and respond promptly to traffic-related issues.
In the past week alone, over 2,25,000 vehicles have entered and exited Shimla city. In response to this volume, all gazetted officers (GOs)are actively supervising and monitoring traffic movement within their respective jurisdictions.
To further streamline traffic management, the steps are being implemented including strict enforcement of traffic rules for better regulation, and special drive to remove idle parked and unattended vehicles from public areas.
A public advisory is sounded to public requesting them to prefer public transport over private vehicles, especially in the core city areas, to help reduce congestion.
With increasing heatwave in the plain large numbers of tourists are making beeline to Shimla and Manali to beat intense heatwave.
Shimla and Manali are most preferred hill station of people after recent Pahalgam massacre as about 5,000 additional vehicles arrive here daily.
