Shimla, Mar 11 (UNI) Light snowfall has been reported in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, with popular tourist destinations like Manali also experiencing light rainfall.
The weather has remained normal to slightly above normal in the past 24 hours.
In the Lahaul-Spiti region, snowfall was recorded at Gondhla (16 cm), Keylong (15 cm), and Kukumseri (3.8 cm), while Manali received 5 cm of rainfall. Other areas that saw rainfall include Kothi (3.6 mm), Bharmour (1.5 mm), Sundernagar (1.2 mm), and Shilaroo (1 mm).
In connection with the ongoing police recruitment process in Lahaul-Spiti, DSP Raj Kumar has instructed all police station in-charges to assist candidates and ensure smooth facilitation.
The recruitment is scheduled to conclude on March 12, 2025. Candidates travelling to Bashing (Kullu) are advised to stay cautious as snowfall could cause disruptions.
Looking ahead, light to moderate rain or snowfall is expected in isolated areas over the next 24 hours. While March 11 is forecasted to remain dry, the weather is predicted to worsen from
March 12 onwards, with inclement conditions expected to last until March 17. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for widespread rain and snowfall, with thunderstorms and lightning particularly likely on March 14 and 15.
The minimum temperature in Shimla is 11.6°C, in Shimla and five degrees above normal, 13.6°C at Jubbarhatti, and the lowest at Keylong, which recorded -0.6°C.
