Tribal man killed in lightning strike

Kannur, Jun 26 (UNI) A 50-year-old tribal man was killed on Thursday after lightning struck him amid heavy rains at Aralam Farm, the lone rehabilitation Centre of the state.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Rajeevan (50) a resident of the Twelfth block of Aralam farm. The incident occurred in the morning, while he was engaged to tapping the toddy from the first block of Aralam farm and lightning struck when he was resting in a shelter.
Local residents found him lying in the ground and they rushed him to a nearby hospital, but could not save his life. The funeral function will be held tomorrow morning after the post-mortem at Kannur Government Medical college at Pariyaram, according to family sources.
