Telangana Govt to clear Rs 8,950 cr fee arrears: Minister Lakshman Kumar

Hyderabad, Sep 11 (UNI) Telangana Welfare Minister Adluri Lakshman Kumar on Friday said the state government was committed to clearing outstanding scholarship and fee reimbursement dues and ensuring that students do not face difficulties due to delayed payments.
Replying to questions during Question Hour in the Assembly, the Minister said the government had inherited substantial scholarship arrears and had so far paid around Rs 3,487 crore towards outstanding dues. He said the total pending amount was around Rs 8,950 crore, covering SC, ST, BC, Minority and EBC students, and assured the House that the government would clear the balance as early as possible.
On overseas scholarships, Lakshman Kumar said 10,008 applications had been received, of which sanctions were issued for 9,026. Overseas scholarships had been disbursed to 9,124 students, while applications of around 862 students were still pending.
