Telangana CM announces ‘Praja Balam’ programme after Sankranthi, to tour every village

Kodangal, Nov 7 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday announced that the government would launch the ‘Praja Balam’ (People’s Strength) programme after Sankranthi, during which he would visit every village and interact directly with people.
Launching the Rythu Mela and Industrial Expo at Kodangal, the Chief Minister appealed to farmers to opt for dry crops during the ensuing Rabi season in view of the prevailing drought conditions and anticipated El Niño impact.
He assured that the government would extend support to all sections of society in tackling the possible crisis.
Amid the ongoing political confrontation between the ruling Congress and opposition BRS over irrigation and river water issues, Revanth Reddy appealed to Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar to convene a special two-day session of the Assembly to discuss El Niño, the Kaleshwaram project and utilisation of Godavari waters.
The Chief Minister challenged former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to attend the Assembly along with his family, stating that the government was prepared to expose irregularities during the previous BRS regime with documentary evidence.
Questioning the circumstances surrounding the proposed CBI probe into the Kaleshwaram project, Revanth Reddy alleged that KCR had approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi and sought to stall the investigation.
He accused the previous government of abandoning the Pranhita project despite the Centre's offer to accord national project status and opting for Kaleshwaram after changing project designs, locations and cost estimates.
Taking a dig at BRS leader T Harish Rao over his association with the Kaleshwaram project, the Chief Minister questioned his response to the Medigadda barrage issue.
He alleged that the project designs were changed for commissions and criticised BRS leaders for making impractical demands on releasing water from the Kannepalli pump houses.
Revanth Reddy alleged that the previous BRS government had neglected irrigation projects in the Palamuru region during its ten-year rule.
Projects including Kalwakurthy, Bhima, Nettempadu, Koilsagar, Makthal, Kodangal and Narayanpet had remained incomplete, depriving the region's people of irrigation and drinking water facilities, he charged.
In contrast, the present government was accelerating the Makthal-Narayanpet lift irrigation scheme and had enhanced compensation for farmers displaced by the project, he said. He also referred to the supply of water to farmers in Khammam district through the Devadula and Sitarama projects.
The Chief Minister alleged that KCR had neglected Kodangal during his tenure and obstructed the Krishna railway line and establishment of cement industries in the region.
Stating that Kodangal had given him an opportunity to transform the constituency, Revanth Reddy said the government was developing it as an education and industrial hub.
The stretch from Hyderabad Airport to Kalavacharla Industrial Park would be developed on the lines of the Delhi-Noida and Mumbai-Pune corridors, making it a model for the country, he said.
The government was planning to develop the RARE Education Hub and RARE Industrial Parks, promote exports of Tandur pulses and take up further development works worth Rs 10,000 crore in the constituency.
He called upon people to set aside political differences and work together for Kodangal's development over the next decade.
The Chief Minister also criticised BRS leaders for changing their appearance and growing beards to attract public attention, asserting that such attempts would not help them regain people's trust.
He said political leaders needed to change their mindset rather than merely their appearance.
Revanth Reddy also interacted with progressive farmers and agricultural scientists at the Rythu Mela and Industrial Expo.
