Telangana Govt targets green power revolution: Dy CM Bhatti

Hyderabad, Sep 11 (UNI) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday said the Telangana government was committed to expanding green energy to meet the state’s rapidly rising power demand while reducing the financial burden of subsidies.
Speaking in the Legislative Council, Bhatti said peak power demand had increased from 15,497 MW in 2014 to 19,543 MW as of September 9 and was expected to touch 20,000–21,000 MW this year. The government had therefore introduced the Telangana Clean and Green Energy Policy-2025, integrating conventional and renewable energy sources.
He said 10 proponents had come forward to establish pumped storage projects in the state. DPR preparation would take 1.5 to two years and commercial operation could take five to eight years, with permissions to be granted as per policy guidelines.
