Rs 1 cr free accident insurance for Telangana Govt employees: T’gana Dy CM Bhatti

Hyderabad, Sep 11 (UNI) Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday informed the council that the state government has introduced a free accident insurance scheme offering coverage of up to Rs 1 crore to government employees, teachers, pensioners and contract and outsourcing personnel without imposing any financial burden on the employees or the state exchequer.
Speaking in the Legislative Council, Bhatti Vikramarka said the initiative, implemented through Government Order (GO) No. 77, was aimed at providing financial security to families of employees who die or suffer permanent disability in accidents. He said the government had adopted a humanitarian approach to ensure that the families of employees do not face financial distress following an accidental death.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government had entered into agreements with 16 prominent banks and insurance companies to provide the facility at no premium cost to employees. He explained that since salaries and pensions were being credited through bank accounts every month, the government consulted banks and worked out the insurance arrangements in a manner that also supported their business growth.
