AP: Ganja Smuggler Detained Under PIT-NDPS Act, Sent to Rajahmundry Prison

Kakinada, Oct 27 (UNI) Kakinada district police have detained a habitual ganja smuggler under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act and shifted him to Rajahmundry Central Prison, police said on Tuesday.
The accused was identified as Sangadala Rajesh (21), a resident of Pithapuram Agraharam.
Several cases relating to ganja sales, smuggling and burglaries have been registered against him at Kakinada Three Town Law and Order Police Station and other police stations.
Despite repeated warnings, Rajesh allegedly continued his activities, prompting Three Town Circle Inspector K.V.S. Satyanarayana to submit proposals seeking his detention under the PIT-NDPS Act through district Superintendent of Police Bindu Madhav.
The State government approved the proposals, following which the police detained Rajesh on Monday night and shifted him to Rajahmundry Central Prison.
Police warned that stringent action would be taken against those involved in the sale and illicit circulation of ganja and other narcotic substances, and said no leniency would be shown towards offenders.
