FIR against BJP for comparing Indira Gandhi to Hitler

Bengaluru, June 26 (UNI) A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly comparing former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler in a social media post.
The complaint, filed by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) General Secretary S Manohar, accuses BJP Karnataka of defaming the late Prime Minister. The post in question was shared from the BJP’s official handle @BJP4Karnataka on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, June 25.
Based on the complaint, Bengaluru's High Grounds police registered the case under relevant sections pertaining to defamation and promoting enmity.
Manohar alleged that the comparison was a deliberate political attack aimed at maligning the legacy of Indira Gandhi and provoking public sentiment.
Meanwhile, BJP Karnataka has not issued an official statement on the FIR at the time of filing this report.
The incident has escalated tensions between the Congress and the BJP in the state, with Congress leaders demanding a public apology and strict legal action.
This development comes amid increasing online political hostilities between the two parties in the run-up to local body elections expected later this year.
