ED attaches assets worth Rs 129.85 cr in Tirumala ghee adulteration case

Hyderabad, Oct 14 (UNI) The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Hyderabad Zonal Office, has provisionally attached movable and immovable assets worth Rs 129.85 crore belonging to dairy companies, their promoters and related entities in connection with the alleged adulteration of ghee supplied to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for preparing the sacred Laddu Prasadam.
According to an ED press release, the attachment was made under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002. The investigation alleges that adulterated ghee worth Rs 234.5 crore was supplied to TTD by Bhole Baba Organic Dairy Milk Pvt. Ltd., directly and through front dairies.
The ED alleged that the ghee was manufactured at facilities linked to Bhole Baba and Sukriti Foods Pvt. Ltd. by blending refined palm oil, palm kernel oil and palmolein with chemicals, while fictitious dairy transactions and bogus buyers were recorded to conceal the alleged fraud. Payments made through banking channels were allegedly returned in cash through hawala networks to fund the operation and pay commissions.
