Osmania University Vice Chancellor visits CDM, reaffirms academic ties

Hyderabad, June 30 (UNI) In a reaffirmation of a decades-long academic partnership, Prof Kumar Molugaram, Vice Chancellor of Osmania University (OU), visited the College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad today to strengthen institutional collaboration and explore
future academic opportunities.

The association between CDM and Osmania University, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on August 14, 1994, has grown significantly over the past 30 years.

The university partners with CDM in designing and delivering the Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC), and confers a Master of Management Studies (MMS) degree upon its graduates. Since the 1994–95 academic year, 3,494 Indian officers and 213 officers from 34 friendly countries have earned the degree under this programme.

During the visit, Prof Molugaram was briefed by CDM Commandant Major General Harsh Chhibber, AVSM, VSM, Ph.D., and senior faculty members on the evolution, curriculum structure, and strategic relevance of HDMC.

The Vice Chancellor lauded the course for its academic rigor and practical relevance, particularly in areas such as decision-making, logistics, resource optimization, leadership, and national security strategy.

Prof Molugaram also appreciated the College’s efforts in establishing Domains of Specialisation in Defence Exports Promotion, Cyber Security and Forensics, and Indian Strategic Culture. He inaugurated the Domain Awareness Room, aptly named ‘Kurukshetra.’

The visit also included an interactive session with faculty members and a campus tour highlighting CDM’s world-class academic infrastructure. Both institutions discussed avenues for enhanced collaboration through joint research, curriculum development, and faculty exchange initiatives.

Maj Gen Chhibber emphasised the critical role Osmania University plays in academically validating the HDMC, helping integrate professional military education with formal academic recognition and creating opportunities for further academic and professional advancement, a defence statement said.
