IIIT Hyderabad, NPCI join hands to strengthen cybersecurity in digital payments

Hyderabad, Oct 27 (UNI) The International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT-H) and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) have entered into a partnership to strengthen cybersecurity in India's digital payments ecosystem through joint research, innovation and capacity building.
The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently to address emerging cybersecurity challenges and develop solutions to enhance the security and resilience of digital payment systems.
Under the partnership, IIIT Hyderabad's Cyber Manthan Centre (CMC), which works in cybersecurity, digital forensics and trusted infrastructure, will lead the institute's engagement.
IIIT-H Director Prof. Sandeep K. Shukla will be directly involved in steering the collaboration.
The MoU provides a framework for joint research and development, specialised training, knowledge exchange and industry-oriented learning.
It aims to connect academic research with industry requirements and develop skilled professionals equipped to address evolving cyber threats in digital payments.
NPCI Managing Director and CEO Dilip Asbe said the collaboration would bring together industry experience and academic expertise to advance cybersecurity research, develop practical solutions and build capabilities to address current and emerging risks.
He said the partnership reinforced NPCI's commitment to proactive risk management and improving security standards across digital payments.
Prof. Shukla said the collaboration would provide a platform to explore cybersecurity challenges specific to digital payments and examine how emerging technologies could enhance payment security.
He added that the capacity-building initiative would help students, researchers and professionals develop specialised skills needed to secure next-generation digital payment systems.
