Google employee felicitated for heroic act on YMCA flyover in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, May 17 (UNI) In a heartwarming display of civic responsibility, Abhishek, a Google employee, was lauded by Hyderabad Traffic Police for his timely and courageous act of assisting a stranded motorist on the YMCA Flyover on the evening of May 16.
At around 2015 hours, a 2010 model Santro car suffered a sudden battery failure in the middle of the busy flyover. The vehicle was being driven by a 55-year-old woman who found herself stuck in a dangerous situation with traffic moving around her.
Observing the distress, Abhishek, who was commuting from Hi-tech City to DD Colony, Amberpet, stopped his bike, approached the car, and single-handedly pushed it to the safer side of the flyover near the North Zone traffic office. He ensured the woman’s safety before walking back to retrieve his bike from the flyover’s centre.
Recognizing this selfless act, G Shankar Raju, ACP Traffic-I, North Zone, along with G Satish Reddy, Sub-Inspector, and Constable P Srinivas from Gopalapuram Traffic Police Station, formally felicitated Abhishek. Officials praised his courage, quick thinking, and deep sense of social responsibility, hailing him as a role model for all citizens of Hyderabad.
The Traffic-I division emphasised that while traffic police work tirelessly to manage the city’s growing traffic and respond to emergencies, prompt assistance from citizens like Abhishek is vital.
With over 2,000 new vehicles being added daily and thousands of accident cases reported nationally, public participation in moments of crisis is more crucial than ever.
Authorities also used the occasion to promote awareness of the Good Samaritan Law, which protects and encourages individuals who help accident victims or distressed persons. Such individuals are eligible for the Good Samaritan Award, and their actions are legally safeguarded under Indian law.
