Keralites in Iran and Israel are safe; Help Desks opened in Tehran, Tel Aviv

Thiruvananthapuram, June 17 (UNI) Keralites residing in Iran and Israel are currently safe, NORKA Roots (a department of the Kerala Government to redress the grievances of Non-Resident Keralites NRKs) CEO Ajith Kolassery, said on Tuesday.
"Malayalees from both countries have confirmed their safety after recent missile attacks. However, the situation remains serious in both Tehran, Iran, and Tel Aviv, Israel," the CEO said.
Twelve MBBS students from Kerala studying at Kerman University of Medical Sciences in Iran, and a business delegation that had traveled to Tehran, are currently in contact with NORKA.
The students are reportedly safe in their dormitories. Their details have been shared with the Indian Embassy in Tehran through the Ministry of External Affairs.
The business group has safely relocated to another place with the help of local Iranian citizens.
Meanwhile, efforts are underway by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy to evacuate Indian students and citizens from Iran to Armenia.
NORKA has also been in touch with Malayalees and members of the Loka Kerala Sabha in Israel. A missile attack took place last night, but all are reported to be safe. Due to emergency protocols, they are currently staying in bunkers attached to their apartments.
Several Keralites, including caregivers, paramedical staff, nurses, and students, reside in Israel.
In light of the escalating Iran-Israel conflict, the Ministry of External Affairs has set up a dedicated call center to provide assistance. Help desks have been activated at Indian embassies in Tehran and Tel Aviv. NORKA’s call center is also operational, said the CEO.
